Easter Hippo

I hope all the hippo fans had a good Easter and a nice spring break. I must have been a very good hippo, since the Easter Hippo left me a basket full of goodies.

He left some yummy chocolate eggs, my very own tiny hippo size Slinkie toy, and best of all – my own itty-bitty baby dwarf house hippo!

Meet ??? the Octopus

Since Happy and Tai Shan have moved away, I decided to make a new friend at the zoo.  Meet "???" the Giant Pacific Octopus.  Poor "???" doesn't have a name yet, but you can help name him. 

I was very pleased to meet "???" but I didn't shake his hand(s)--we just gently high fived--or eighted--through his aquarium glass.  He isn't very "giant" at three pounds, but that's okay.  I'm not very big for a hippo, either.

Hippo Patties Day

With "O'Potamus" in my family name, St. Patrick's Day just had to turn into a week-long celebration!

(not to mention the fact that certain little hippos will use almost any excuse to celebrate)

I don't recommend the green root beer, though. Bleah!  Regular root beer tastes much better and doesn't turn one's tongue funny colors. 

Detroit Zoo Commercial

One of the highlights of Hippo's national tour of zoos has been the Detroit Zoo. The animals there were all very professional and musically talented. This commercial from the 1980's gives a taste:

Hippo Hugs for Health

Some hippos might need a little extra attention while we work on getting better.  Dr. Hippo says a hippo hug a day keeps the doctors at bay (or at least makes the hippo happy).  Don't forget to hug your hippo today!

Several hippos have been under the weather, lately. Dr. Hippo recommends washing paws often, eating a bowl of soup, and tucking in under some warm blankets.
