Happy Birthday (Hip)Poe!

Today was Edgar Allan (Hip)Poe's 201st birthday! I'm afraid of visiting spooky graveyards in the dark, so I went to visit his grave site during daylight hours in September when it was sunny and warm.

For the first time since 1949, the Poe Toaster didn't show up. Maybe he had his calendar open to the wrong page.

Thank you for the update, Hippo. I always like seeing your pictures from your day trips around the extended D.C. area such as the Virginia countryside out to the Shenandoah, downtown Baltimore, the Montgomery County fair grounds, etc. And I like your commentary, too. It's such a nice change of pace to visit here instead of reading about all the never-ending bad in the world.

Of course, as I understand it, Mr. Poe was a pretty tortured soul himself. But you always seem very happy, Hippo, and I like that.

I do follow the news and worry about things, but it's still pretty easy to be happy when one is lucky enough to be a pampered little hippo with "staff" to handle the hard stuff.
