Philadelphia

For Labor Day, Hippo took a trip to Philadelphia. He was most excited to see the mummies at The Franklin Institute.

He was very excited. But he didn't push or shove to get inside. He thought it would be a good idea to try on an Egyptian hat to see how he would look as a Pharaoh.

He looks quite handsome. He also looks like he's thinking about food. You know what? He usually is.

Before going to see the King Tut exhibit, we played around in the science area. Hippo acted like a mad scientist. It's dangerous to put power into his little hooves.

We saw a show at the planetarium called Stars of the Pharaohs. Hippo learned that the Egyptians placed a hippopotamus at the center of their zodiac to hold the stars in place with his staff. That sounds about right.

While in Philadelphia, Hippo also went to see some old buildings and a big, broken bell. He came nose to nose with Benjamin Franklin, who he found to be an interesting fellow.

Back at the hotel we discovered what a hippo does after being exposed to history and archaeology all day.

I had fun and learned a lot. I already knew that the universe revolves around Hippos, though. That really doesn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows me.

My trip to the museum gave me all kinds of great ideas for Halloween! I can't decide if I should be a pharoh, a mummy, or a mad scientist. Maybe all three so I can get three times as much candy trick-or-treating! :O) Hippos LOVE candy....
