Meet ??? the Octopus

Since Happy and Tai Shan have moved away, I decided to make a new friend at the zoo.  Meet "???" the Giant Pacific Octopus.  Poor "???" doesn't have a name yet, but you can help name him

I was very pleased to meet "???" but I didn't shake his hand(s)--we just gently high fived--or eighted--through his aquarium glass.  He isn't very "giant" at three pounds, but that's okay.  I'm not very big for a hippo, either.

UPDATE--Mr. ???'s new name is Octavius!

I think I like plush hippos better than real live octopuses.

What happened to our winter and then our short-lived spring, hippo? Why is it suddenly 90F. Does Mr. Rick keep it cool and pleasant in your apartment / swamp, Mr. Potamus?

Plush hippos are, of course, niftier than real octopuses (octopi?), but it was fun to make a new friend. I bet he is really good at playing catch!

I've been enjoying the open windows, but now my nose is stuffed up. :)

I thought the plural was octopodes ... I don't actually know the plural.

I'm really not lovin' this 90F weather in early April with billowing clouds of greenish pollen. Thank God for Claritin, or at least it's knock-off Loratadine.

I'm doing Census work, Hippo, here in D.C. I haven't counted any plush hippos, though, except the little pod I have. I think there are, like, four or five in yours?

We lost count of how many of us there are in the bloat. Some hippos are more shy than others, and some hog the camera.

Well, if you don't have an accurate hippo enumeration, you may miss out on some extra representation in the House of Hippo Delegates, not to mention hippo dollars for things like swamp restorations, mud hole expansion, and extra wide pools to loll about in on hot summer days.

Yes, the octopus is named Octavius. Yay!
