It's beginning to look a lot like....

Christmas!

I think this tree might be big enough for all the presents to fit. 

...And there is the Big Guy, himself!  (that's me, peeking in the side)

By the time I made it downstairs, I was so excited to give Mr. Claus all the wish lists from the pod, find out what kinds of cookies he and the reindeer want for their Christmas Eve snack, give him a big hippo hug, and get his autograph, I forgot to take a picture. 

At least I have another two weeks to let him taste test the cookies, amend our lists, and take more pictures!

Happy Hippoween

It's almost Halloween, and everyone is decorating and dressing up.  This tree is dressed up in pretty pumpkin colors. 

Wow!  Look at this huge spiderweb!  I wonder who built it?

YIKES!

Not funny.  Next time, someone should tell me when there might be a giant hippo-eating spider looking over my shoulder.

Even the rose bushes are getting all dressed up for the big day, with a little help from "Mr. Legs." 

Now I just need to decide which costume I'm going to wear!

Littlest Cherry Tree

Hippo went for a long walk to enjoy the blossoming cherry trees in Washington, DC. He found this little Hippo-sized tree in a quiet grove along the Potomac River.

O Christmas Tree

Little Christmas has passed, so Hippo will take the tree down soon. Before he does, he wanted to share a picture of his nifty origami tree.



Not all of the presents were for Hippo--he had to share.
But he did get some good presents from Santapotamus!

O Christmas Tree

I am very excited about my first Christmas, so I went to see the National Christmas Tree. There has been a national tree since 1923, but only a live one since 1973. Around the big tree are more than 50 small trees--one for each American state and territory. I took a photo of the Michigan tree since I have non-hippo family there.


Most of the ornaments on the tree were mitten-shaped like the state! It was cold out, but not cold enough for me to wear my mittens.

I liked looking at the trees and thinking about all the presents you could fit under them, but the best part was the trains running under the big tree. These trains were almost big enough for a tiny little hippo to ride!


Ho, ho, ho! Just 2 more days to go!
