King of the hippos

For Valentine's Day, Hippo got a soft purple hippo. And one of his humans gave his other human a white stone hippo. With all of his miniscule minions, little Hippo is becoming the Great Big King of Hippos!

Happy Election Day!

Potomac Primary Day was very exciting in Washington, DC! Until I watched the news last week, I thought Super Tuesday was all about superheroes like Batman, Spiderman, and Superman. I was a little disappointed at first, but I decided to learn a little more.

I went to the polls this morning with one of my loyal staff. I'm not old enough to vote, but I got a cool sticker that says "I Voted" anyway. It isn't lying – I helped cast the ballot.

Now I get to stay up late to watch the results come in. The news stations use pretty colors and a lot of interesting graphics, so even when the speeches get boring, there is still something to watch.


Now, I am a very civic minded hippo. I can't run for President – I'm too young and I wasn't born here – but I wouldn't mind being King of the Hippos! It is a lot of responsibility, but I think I could do it.

Hippo contemplation

Hippo loves to learn about hippopotamuses. He's lucky to have some role models nearby at the National Zoo. Two of them are pygmies, and the other is a BIG hippo. His name is Happy, and he looks very happy when he gets hay with treats.



Unfortunately, those hippos are going to move to other zoos when our zoo builds a new elephant house. Hippo hopes that Happy gets a nice pool with lots of toys.

I made friends with a very cute little hippo who is even smaller than I am! Her name is Tiny Little Green Hippo and she has a pet Shih-Tzu puppy. The puppy is cute too, but she plays a little rough so I'm keeping my distance.
